Comforters and duvets are both common terms for lush bedcoverings filled with down, feathers, cotton, wool, silk, or hypoallergenic synthetics. A duvet is a comforter without a cover made to be encased in a removable duvet cover to protect the duvet and keep it clean. Duvet covers, also called "comforter covers," are giant open-ended pillowcases that fit over a comforter. Duvet covers can be
closed by buttons, ties, or a zipper. They are designed to protect your investment and a cover is easier to clean than a large comforter. More...

A cuddly goose down comforter is not just for people living in the Arctic. Down bedding products are available in a variety of weights, qualities, colors, and sizes for a cool sleep or one that will warm you from the chilliest of night winds. Because down is so lightweight, it's one of the most comfortable and sought after fills for a blanket or comforter. More...

You might like to try an electric blanket that allows the sleeper to adjust the heat based on his or her needs. They are no longer bulky and limited in heating options. Some include single or dual heating controls, others are made with thinner wires with wireless controls, and some include heating zones, allowing feet to be warmer than shoulders, for example. At one time they were not considered totally safe; however, now they are generally considered safe, as long as they are used according to manufacturer's instructions. Proper maintenance of electric blankets reduces hazards of electric shock or fires caused by worn wiring. Watch for worn or frayed fabric; signs of scorching; worn, damaged, or missing wiring, tapes, or cords; or loose connections. If any damage appears, discard the blanket. More...

Decorating with Throws

Throws have become an important element of decorating. They can transform any room into a vibrant personal statement with alluring textures, daring colors or warm sophistication. A beautiful cashmere throw draped casually over a chair or sofa is a welcoming touch in any room. There's nothing cozier than curling up on the couch with warm chenille throw. Chenille is very soft and warm, but it's also quite fashionable right now, making it the perfect fabric for a throw. Use a fleece throw blanket on a sofa to add some texture and color to a room, or just curl up under it when reading a good book. Throw blankets are a warm, luxurious, and simple way to introduce a new fabric or color to a room. Faux fur throws can add a touch of glamour. More...

What Pillows Best Fit your Sleeping Position?

People who prefer sleeping on their stomach or who sleep in many different positions usually find that a soft pillow offers the best results. Do you prefer sleeping on your back? Consider a medium support pillow for the necessary head and neck support. Side-sleepers can usually find the best results if they choose firm support pillows for proper spine alignment. Tend to toss and turn while you sleep? Try a down or down-alternative for a fluffy pillow, with down clusters that will adjust to any sleeping position. Are you unsure of your sleeping position? Down and down-like synthetic pillows can be adjusted to fit varying support needs. More...

More important than the color or pattern in making your selection is the thread count. The higher the thread count, the softer and more durable the sheet will be. Thread count refers to the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric. The higher the thread count, the softer and smoother are the bed linens. Thread count also determines whether a sheet is muslin or percale. Sheets with a

thread count of 140 to 180 are muslin; everything higher is percale. The most common percale sheets have thread counts of 180 to 200. Higher quality sheets have a 250 to 300 thread count and feel silky to the touch. Look for a minimum thread count of 200 when selecting sheets (for cotton/polyester sheets, 220 or more is a good choice). Sheets with a very high thread count (300 to 400) are

considered luxury quality. More...
